How Nancy Caught the Attention of ‘Voice of America’ During Christmas 1975

The environment is part of what keeps us alive and requires our care and protection, this is something that Nancy Crooks understood and cared about deeply. She was an impactful environmentalist and in 1975, she spoke up and campaigned against the cutting and uprooting of trees to make space for a powerline in Naivasha.

"Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” - Warren Buffett

In order to reforest the area, Nancy started the “Pledge Your Christmas Tree to Naivasha” campaign and urged people to buy live potted Christmas trees and then donate them where they would be replanted in Naivasha. The campaign caught the attention of many, including America's largest and oldest international broadcaster ‘Voice of America.’

Keep reading this little slice of history and see what they had to say.
