Our playground launch was a success!

We had a joyous successful playground launch at Flomina Children’s Home, Kayole area, Nairobi on the 20th of February 2021.

Home to 79 children between the age of 4 months and 18 years, the children at Flomina Children's Home formerly played on a worn-out slide that eventually broke down.

Natalia, an energetic 6 year old girl at the Home couldn't hide her joy and excitement to finally be able to swing and slide on the colorful playground.

Through our Nancy's Playground project, the children at Flomina Home have a safe space to develop their creativity, dexterity, motor skills, cognitive and emotional strength. As Nancy used to say, "Children must play!"

"Thank You From The Bottom of Our Hearts."

Bernard, Manager at Flomina Children's Home

Bernard Maingi, the manager at Flomina Children's Home, is one of the beneficiaries of the children's home and currently a university student pursuing Community Development Studies.

Bernard mentioned how grateful he is for the playground and emphasized on the positive impact it will have on the children; physically, mentally and emotionally.

One thing is for sure, Nancy loved Kenya. In 1986, Nancy Ellen co-authored a booklet, entitled ‘Kenya Trivia’, about Kenya’s ecology, geography and culture. Forty-two thousand copies were published and sold. This publication was a key text used by individuals training to be guides in the national museum, as well as safari guides.

To get your copy message us at info@thenecf.org or pick up a copy at Spinners Web for 500ksh. All proceeds from the sale of the Kenya Trivia books directly support our programs.
